when first i bought my ps2 console, the merchant told me not to leave my console always running and always unplug the switch or cable to prevent console damage. and that's why i though my ps2 still in 85% condition right now .

I use a power strip that automatically kills power to the TV, both consoles, the DVD player and most of the other devices whenever I turn off the receiver.

Never know when there will be a power outage, anyway. Why risk it?
Why would I want to waste all that power and risk damage to the console by leaving it on 24/7? I guess maybe if I had a PS3 I might consider Folding@Home, but considering the known power usage of that machine, I wouldn't bother. I can't afford it.

I leave my PS3 running all the time running Folding@home. I only turn it off to update the Firmware.

I never leave my Xbox 360 running because that occasional red ring of death scares the **** out of me.
it depends, if i'm just taking a short break i leave it on,
but if i'll be off for quite a long time i'll turn it off :-)
