If I have four new cars in the drive and if I can't pay you I don't need "assistance" I need to sell some cars. If GM can't pay its bills it needs to sell some car brands. Where did God etch in stone that GM needed to own that many car companies. I live in Kansas and we build airplanes. If we can build a Citation that flies at the speed of sound, we can build a Saturn for God's sake. Ford is good on cash for another year because Mulally sold Jaguar and will do the same with Mazda and Volvo if he needs to.

The reason Jefferson told that group of Baptist ministers that were concerned the government would start underwriting it's favorite church that there should be a separation between church and state was that it was unfair for the government to do one thing for some churches that it wasn't for others. It's not fair to tax workers at the BMW plant in S. Carolina to help support their competition.

The banks are creating the situation at this time. Banks are approving no loans and the trickle down affects everyone. Stop the bank bailout until they loosen the credit. The RV business is also almost gone thanks to GE Financial who stopped floorplanning small dealers. No credit for individuals and dealerships. The union and auto companies have been working together to help the industry stay in business. You wouldn't say no bailout (by the way, they are looking for a bridge loan, not a bailout) if you lived in the state of Michigan which is on the verge of becoming a third world nation. I realize that we all feel we have been duped by the Treasury, but putting millions of people out of work is not the way to go.

GM, Ford & Chrysler are trapped by Union Health Care Benefits like no other manufacturer in the world. Unless the Unions relax their hold on these manufacturer's they are all going to be on unemployment, which doesn't pay enough to live on, and we will only see off shore company autos. Also, think about all the GM, Ford & Chrysler dealer's who will also go under. The unemployment rate in the USA will be larger than the population of many other countries.
    The Union's must back down!

How about putting tens of billions of dollars into public transportation projects. Re-employ all of those people in jobs that will help our economy and help our planet.
