Should other states follow Oregon and Washington and adopt doctor-assisted suicide?

What an oxymoron---"Mercy-killing". WONDERFUL! Holland terminates their old people, as well as those in the womb. PERFECT! We leave it all to the opinion of a Doctor plus one other person. Who gives these people the right to play God?! And knowing "human nature", what are the chances of the system being abused, once it is 'legalized'? (Just look at the numbers of abortions, rife in the 'civilized' West, and how IT IS NOW USED AS 'BIRTH CONTROL'!) TERRIFIC! And now the Dutch Government complains that by 2012 Muslims will be the majority in all major Dutch cities, while the native-born Dutch are not even reproducing themselves, let alone the rest of Europe... FANTASTIC! And you want this in the States?! (I know we dont want it in Canada.) INCREDIBLE! And one of Hitler's favourite people was a Doctor named Joseph Mengele. Is the freedom to exterminate other human beings, whatever their age, what our parents and Grandparents' fought the Second World War for? I think not. ONE QUESTION: What in the world have we in the West become? Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and all the others who thought they could play God, would be smiling...

I think until people are faced with this in their own lives they don't take the time to truely think about it. When my baby died from a brain tumor they did everything that they could to save him. We fought only so far and then when his heart gave in we let him go. As our parents age and are in their late 60's early 70's we begin to think more about how we can help them if they become sick. I have asked them to make it clear in their wills how much intervention they seek but mostly we want for them to be well cared for until their natural death. No one wishes to die in pain or alone so if society provided adequate support and resources for the sick and elderly most would choose to live and they wouldn't feel like they are a trouble or a worry to their family. Society would then provide them the quality of life they deserve and the dignity they desire until their natural death. Please have a will for yourself not matter your age (as well as a living will)

A vote for assisted suicide is indeed suicidal. We need laws that support life, not laws that promote death. Death laws move us closer toward a collective psychosis.

The poster in the picture to the far left says "you would do it for your dog, why not for me?" Do we really want to lower ourselves to a dog's level?
Human life is sacred from the moment of conception to natural death. Let us honor it.

With 94% apparently opposed to "death with dignity," how did it pass? Where were all the profest christians? Guilt runs to those who have turned their heads too!
