I would also add: The gross and overarching racism demonstrated by the blacks in this country who proudly proclaimed they were voting for Obama just because he was black.
I know a black woman who is a devote Baptist and who is on the opposite side of almost every issue with Obama. Yet she still voted for him because he is black. She even told my wife that she understood why some states voted "against" Obama because they were "the last states to get rid of slavery." She also said that was the only reason there was to vote for anyone else. How do you like that? My wife and I are racists because we did not vote for a man with whom we disagreed on every issue but she is NOT racist (in her mind) voting FOR him just because he is black even though she disagreed with him on virtually every issue too.

In California, while the African Americans were voting 99.99% for Obama, they were also voting for Proposition 8, a state constitutional amendment to prohibit homosexual marriages. Hispanic voters also voted for Obama and Proposition 8.

Had it not been for the support from African American and Hispanic voters, Proposition 8 would have lost.

McCain lost in Florida, while 62% of the people voted for a state constitutional amendment to prohibit homosexual marriages.

Conservatives can sometimes win referendums on critical issues.

Unfortunately, only 23 states provide for the right of the people for initiative and referendum. And, of course, there is no right on the federal level either.

We should work for expansion of this vital tool of direct democracy.
