The nice thing about optical scan paper is all you need to vote is a pen and the ballot. 4000 show up to vote, just hand out more ballots and pens. Pen stops working get another pen. Scanner brakes no prob just collect the ballots and scan them later. Recount hay look the ballots are on big pieces of paper exactly as filled out by the voter.
I may be a geek but some times simple is better. Until we can vote online stay with paper.

In Texas I used an electronic machine, but not touchscreen. It had a screen with a selector wheel and a confirm/back buttons and finally a 'submit ballot' button for use at the end. That count as lever or....?
