There was no line at our township polling place. Another reason to live out here in the boondock!

  • sara's friend - 16 years ago

i tend to agree with Sara....everyone puts the blame on Bush but look, it is all democrats in the senate and house and they made all this crap go on. lost my job and my 401k to those bastards! get a real man in there
    VOTE MCCAIN

  • Sara - 16 years ago

Obama's media friends have been happy to ignore his scary past associations (Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Rezco, et al). Many of his supporters have been willing to ignore it too since they just "hate Bush". Well, consider this:

Did you know that Obama would not be able to get a job for the FBI or the CIA? He would not be able to pass the background check because of his past associations. But many Americans are ready and willing to elect him President. Think about that.

How's this for checks and balances: We will have a democratic majority Senate (possibly fillibuster-proof with a 60% majority...SCARY), A democratic majority House, and potentially a liberal democratic President (most liberal voter in the Senate by the way). This liberal President will appoint radical circuit judges, Supreme Court Justices, etc, who will legislate from the bench. He will have the power to "mold" this country into what he wishes. So much for checks and balances. Remember...absolute power corrupts. Don't forget that this is how communist dictators have taken over in history (from within). This is no joke and it's scary.

  • Nathan - 16 years ago

I hate it when people throw random terms around like socialist and Muslim. I'm definitely not for Obama. But it irritates me to no end when people are ignorant about who they vote for. (Not saying anyone here is, just a rant in general.)

I hate how both candidates support abortion to some degree, and believe that big government is the solution. Whether you like it or not, this country was founded on Christian ideals. This 2008 election is the farthest thing from Christian I've seen in a long time.

I understand how it's difficult to please everyone, and guarantee every single person the rights they deserve, but we've got to stop arguing, fighting, a being negative.

No matter who you vote for, be confident in your vote. Research their policies and be proud of your vote.

Also, make sure you vote. It only takes a few minutes. (And you can get free coffee from Starbucks!)

    Rant is over.

  • Jeff - 16 years ago

To quote a famous movie line... "So this is how liberty died... with rousing applause..." I'm all for change, but you have to tell me what you are going to do... Obama is a great speaker; I went to see him speak when he was visiting my city. He speaks on change and how Americans want new ideas and a fresh start, but I haven’t really heard him say what he would change and what that "fresh start" would be. Please, don't make this a popularity contest, do your own independent research (Not CNN) and come to your own conclusion. I’ve done my research and I'm voting for McCain. Have a great day!

  • Jonathan - 16 years ago

McCain - I plan on getting a ton of money in the future and I don't want NObama to take it away from me. Plus, NObama is a socialist.

  • Matt - 16 years ago

I’m voting for Cynthia McKinney. Obama will win comfortably in my state of California, so I am using my vote to propel the Green Party toward a 5% share of the electorate. Reaching this threshold confers “major party” status and unlocks federal funding in the next election cycle.

I want to see our two-party system give way to a multi-party system (common in other democracies worldwide), in which ideologies are subjugated by the necessity of coalition-building. The Green Party and Libertarian Party are the next-largest parties in our country, and I’d love to see both rise to challenge the hegemony of the Republucrats. I’m voting for the Greens because their platform aligns the most closely with my own political opinions.

  • Keasiah - 16 years ago

GGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOO OBAMA YOU ROX MY SOXS OFF

  • PipYip - 16 years ago

Time for real change...Obama. I don't mind McCain that much. It's Palin who scares me!

  • reven - 16 years ago

    netherlands - obama!

  • Justin Viera - 16 years ago

And just to let everyone know, all us voting decides is the POPULAR vote! Its the electoral vote that matters!

  • Justin Viera - 16 years ago

Wow, an a of obama supporters commenting..... I myself am for McCcain. Obama is going to DESTROY small businesses!! Yeah, it will work out better for the empoyees, but did you think of this: THE COMPANYS WILL GO BANKRUPT, and there will be no employees for the benifits! And obama wants to give people who dont work MORE MONEY and make them work even less!!! I work 2 jobs and go to school, i think those lazy b*st*rds should go out and get jobs and stop living off of my taxes!

  • Scott - 16 years ago

Bob Barr FTW. Government is the problem, not the solution.

  • Jon - 16 years ago

McCain gets my vote. Not in love with the guy, but Obama scares the $%^& out of me.

  • robmurray - 16 years ago

i do believe that Obama is going to win, but the margin is going to be very slim. i will be surprised if we know on wednesday morning who the next president of the united states is going to be.

  • Aaron Traffas - 16 years ago

Decisions are made by those who show up. Don't be complacent. Show up and vote.

  • 1 - 16 years ago

Palin has the best boobs, I'm voting for her.

  • Sean - 16 years ago

This has to be the only poll I've ever seen where McCain is ahead. /confused

  • Neoboba - 16 years ago

The liberal media is going to shit themselves, come Nov. 4 !

    McCain will not die !

  • dero - 16 years ago

wow someone is playing with this poll..if you click refresh .....obama is getting 1 new vote every sec.....i could believe 10 for him and like 2 for mccain in 20 mins..but not a vote for obama per sec while mccain doesnt get any more....

  • tjmackster - 16 years ago

@wang @TC looks like you can just use the back button and vote again without clearing your cache. Not that anyone would actually do that in a poll ;-)

  • Sam W. - 16 years ago

I would vote for Bob Barr. There's several things I'm not happy with McCain about. But I have to vote McCain to hopefully conteract the insane amount of propaganda for Obama. This is simply a matter of trying to slow down the steady march to communism that Brezhnev so eerily insured us we'd wake up to one day without even fighting us back in 1973.

We already have the MOST PROGRESSIVE tax system of any free country in the world.

Increasing the percentage of citizens not paying any income tax to ~45% is absolutely crazy

  • Mark - 16 years ago

@Paulrus - Your excessive use of periods is frightening, that being said, I'm merely stating the fact that no number of accomplishments entitles anyone to be the most powerful person on earth, we just have to settle for whoever the media and a group of people choose to fill the position. No matter what people think of their candidate, they're still people and they will all fall short of our expectations. The direction of the country is largely in the hands of its citizens, and I'm of course speaking in terms of beyond the elections.

Anyway, I'm disappointed with the Republican nominee and think there were far better choices in the primaries, I'm voting for Barr.

  • Obama Will Win! - 16 years ago

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE OBAMA WIN !!!!!!!

p.s. Checky outie my website !

    :-)

    -Jenny

  • TC - 16 years ago

Wang: maybe McCain supporters aren't wordy and just get the job done and move on. Give me results over rhetoric anyday.

  • Wang - 16 years ago

Look at the number of pro-Obama comments and then look at the Poll results...something seem wrong? That's because no login is required to vote in this poll, and therefore some people are just clearing their cookies out and casting more than one vote (i.e. tainting the poll results).

It's sad that some people feel the need to do this. Let's hope that the *actual* election doesn't suffer from the same sort of voter fraud.

  • Eric Taylor - 16 years ago

    Vote for Bob Barr!

  • Freedom Hater - 16 years ago

some thing is wrong, McCain is ahead.

  • TC - 16 years ago

I am voting for McCain. However, I will admit that Obama inspires me. Obama makes me hope for a more united America. However, IMO he is not ready for the Office of President. It is unfortunate because I feel a black President would help our country. I am a conservative white techy Republican and I look forward to the day we have theopportunity to elect our first black President, one who has the experience necessary to live up to the dream. Just my thoughts.

  • Kevin - 16 years ago

People don't realize they are under a cult of personality until it is too late.

  • Andy in chicago - 16 years ago

If you are choosing to vote mccain because he's the lesser of two evils, you should honestly reconsider. If you vote for Bob Barr and he gets just 5% of the national popular vote, the libertarian party will receive public funding in future elections. It's one step closer to breaking the two party monopoly.

  • SoulReaper - 16 years ago

Vote third party! Or better yet write in Ron Paul or Mary Ruwart. Or Tron Paul! (xkcd.com)

  • calebcherry - 16 years ago

Niether. I'm voting for Nader. Anyone who is for the atrocious Bailout Bill will not get my vote.

Never again will I cast my vote for the lesser of two evils.

  • Amber - 16 years ago

@mike - I see your doing well as a web developer. Very nice site.

  • Mike Elmore - 16 years ago

@Amber - Before Bush I was working 4 years as an office manager.

  • Daniel - 16 years ago

If I was allowed to vote ( being a German) I would vote Obama.
Is there a good Election party in Lexington you can recommend....

And .... yes I agree, this is about the "Kevin Rose" experience....

  • Amber - 16 years ago

and what was your location in the Clinton Admin... under his desk?

  • Mike Elmore - 16 years ago

    Dear Amber:

Are you serious? Let me tell you about my job security since bush has been in office.

Hewlett Packard Call Center (Customer Service) - Closed and went to Canada
Cingular Wireless Call Center (Customer Service) - Closed and went to India
Nextel Call Center (Tech Support) - Closed and went to Phillipines
Dell Call Center (Technical Support) - Closed and went to Mexico
AOL Call Center ( Technical Support) - Closed and went to India
Sitel (WoW GM) - Canceled account and went to another state

So please forgive me if I don't see this amazing job security while a republican has been in office.

  • Brad - 16 years ago

Does anyone here realize that the President's job requires more than dealing with the economy, and that the power to tax is delegated to Congress? A lot can happen in four years, and even though the economy is the biggest issue this month, something else may be in two years.

  • Mike Elmore - 16 years ago

For those complaining about not including third-party candidates:
The would be included if they had a chance! I hate the two party system but until they include a "None of the Above" on the ballot, and if "None of the Above" wins the majority we say ok you guys can't run, lets get a new crop of potential candidates; then I will work within the confines of the political system.

  • Amber - 16 years ago

all I have to say is that we ALL have better job security when there is a Republican in office.

  • Krystyn - 16 years ago

Yes we can? Yes we are!
    http://www.pixelgirl.me/blog/2008/11/1/yes-we-are.html

  • Bryan - 16 years ago

    Already voted for Obama!

Wow, Who are all these McCain people!!! I have been watching CNN for the last 4 months everyday, How in the world can you not see that Obama is who we need in this financial crisis! McCain has a temper & he will act on anger, I for one want someone who is cool & calm at all times! Not someone who will make a decision because he's pissed! Colin Powell had it right, When we all saw who McCain picked for VP that says it all, We all know she was picked because A-She is a woman & B-She has a special needs child. McCain is just milking her for who she is. Obama is in touch with the modern would he understands computers, He understands everyday life. He came from having nothing, Not someone with more houses than he even knows he has!

    DON'T BE INSANE, DON'T VOTE McCAIN !!!!!

  • rcapote - 16 years ago

    Nobama!
    Palin McCain!

  • Kevin - 16 years ago

I don't think polling like this will never be accurate. Not many republicans would even care about who Kevin Rose is. I have a twitter account and I'm not black or progressive...

either way, look at all the elections where the media insisted the democrat was ahead in the polls and the republican candidate totally takes it.

The media, and polls are absolutely useless for compiling accurate or useful info.

  • Bob Dole - 16 years ago

I have multiple bosses the head two are married, one is republican the other a democrat. After Obama's speech the democrat is voting republican. Thank you Obama

  • Barak O' - 16 years ago

I am voting for Kevin Rose for President. Alex Albrecht for VP, and Hippie Glen for secretary of state.

    That's the winning ticket.

  • Dan Ostermayer - 16 years ago

I'm guessing this is not a representative population of the United States ;)

  • Nick - 16 years ago

Vote for the lesser of 2 evils? Naw. Vote for Nader! :)

  • TC - 16 years ago

Will be voting for McCain and against the most liberal candidate we have seen in decades. Hard work and ambition shouldn't be capped to where your $ gets redistributed after a set point. Want more $? Get off your ass and work harder. Poster who said this is not a popularity contest is dead-on. All you tech rockstars, enjoy watching your venture funding dry up with Obama's tax policies.

  • Bluraven - 16 years ago

I must vote for Obama if I expect to see anything change. He may not be the Messiah, but he's much better than Emperor Palpatine over on the Right wing!

  • YouGotaBeKiddingMe - 16 years ago

FACT: if you vote for Obama here you don't need to vote Tuesday! Thanks and stay home!

  • phillymaniac14 - 16 years ago

I think that I'm one of the few conservative geeks out there. Why anybody would vote for an utter socialist is beyond me.

By the way, Mr. Obama, is it 250,000 or 200,000? If you don't know what I'm talking about, go back and watch his infomercial. Who's to say he won't lower the limit to 100,000. Why does he insist on putting a limit on the American dream?

  • John Q. Public - 16 years ago

Brandon, you forgot one other major problem with online polls. Did you really only voice your opinion once in this poll. I don't know about others but I could if I wanted post multiple responses to the same poll from different IP addresses if needed. However, I have not done this here.

  • Paulrus - 16 years ago

@Mark - apparently you must be under the age of 30 or have never actually researched the candidates. One of them has 2 things they've accomplished: 1. community organizer. 2. has run the largest, most expensive campaign in history.......................................... The other has 1. Navy liason to the US Senate. 2. member of the Armed Services Committee. 3. Commerce Committee. 4. Indian Affairs Committee. 5. Wrote the Indian Gambling Regulatory Act. 6. Supported the Gramm-Rudman act. 7. Member of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs. 8. Chairman of the International Republican Institute (supports democracy worldwide). 9. Confirmed Bryer, Ginsberg and Thomas to the Supreme Court. 10. Proposed legislation against the tobacco industry - which was supported by Clinton. 11. Voted to support the bombing in Yugoslavia to stop genocide. 12. Co-authored the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill. 13. Together with Joe Lieberman created the 9/11 commission. 14. Co-sponsored the Climate Stewardship Act. Do I need to go on?? .............. Seriously........ This is NOT a popularity contest and you are not voting for student council. This is the most powerful office in the world and you are going to send in someone who just 4 years ago ADMITTED in a videotaped interview he does not have the experience or knowledge for the job!

  • Geeke - 16 years ago

    Obama/Biden

NO WAY NO HOW NO MCCAIN NO PALIN!

  • BETTER OFF TED - 16 years ago

@John Q. Public - I figured you might say that, it was your camp pretending to be mine that called to tell me election day changed, not the other way around...

  • shane blyth - 16 years ago

No one. this is the internet. America is NOT the centre of the universe. And I cant vote cuase i live outside the US.
PS If you think your president is the most powerful guy in the world then you have a pretty distorted view of things. Its the hidden people that wield power.

  • JonStrickland - 16 years ago

Already voted. Now all that's left is to obsessively watch the returns on Tuesday night.

  • Brandon - 16 years ago

Online polls suffer from several factors. First are you eligible to really vote in the US? Second, will you really vote? Third the demograpic will lean strongly to the more liberal side. With these (and all) polls you have to take at least those three factors into account. Most polls I have seen that can be considered almost legitimate when they take these factors in account (still they are polling democrats nearly 3 to 2 though) have Obamas lead by only 3 to 4 points among registered voters who are "Likely" to vote.

  • Meathead - 16 years ago

Bob Barr got my vote. Obama will win & if he gets a super majority in congress, this country will be worse than Europe in less than 4 years. McCain & the Republican party betrayed me long ago by abandoning their core tenet of tax less, spend less. They have been the party of tax less & spend a TON more!

Hoping that an Obama win will either re-energize the Republicans to go back to their roots, or give life to a viable third party.

  • John Q. Public - 16 years ago

BETTER OFF TED good I'm glad you're planning on voting after the election is over.

  • John - 16 years ago

It's the first time I've ever voted. I thought I was only supposed to vote once, but the community organizer said I could vote as many times as I want, as long as I voted for Obama. So I'm voting over and over and over.

  • BETTER OFF TED - 16 years ago

I'll be voting Obama this Wednesday in RI!

  • pickupjojo - 16 years ago

I'm French but I would vote for Obama. :)

  • John Q. Public - 16 years ago

McCain FTW. I hope you fools wake up and see where Obama plans on taking this country. Redistribute my @$$. I went to school and am paying off those loans don't be taking my money for that arrogant 14-18 year old that got pregnant in order to make money from the state and move out on her own.

  • syclonefx - 16 years ago

I voted early. I voted for Obama!

  • MarkGarland - 16 years ago

From the looks of this poll and others, we are screwed for the next 4 years. Obviously people don't do research before they vote.......

  • Druce - 16 years ago

as long as he isn't our generation's Ted Kennedy, we will be cool. He will have delivered on his campaign promise of change just by being elected.

  • Tommy - 16 years ago

Maybe most tech geeks go for Obama, but not me. I'm voting for McCain.

  • Denisecora - 16 years ago

    Obama!!!

  • natasha - 16 years ago

Im not wild about either one but does some of his connections really not bother some of you? The Tribute in Ayers book to Robert Kennedy's Killer was more than I could stomach, but its not just that connect, its all of them combined. You can't go to a church for 20 years and not have heard some of the same nonsense that Rev Wright was spewing. I tried to ignore that and other things but the Kennedy thing I can't ignore.

  • Martin O. - 16 years ago

I think Obama is going to win, probably with over 300 Electoral College votes.
However, I don't support either major party candidate, as they both represent big government and less liberty. I therefore will most likely vote for Bob Barr, Libertarian Party candidate. I know he has no chance of winning, but I vote on principle, not for the "lesser of two evils."

  • rumblestrip - 16 years ago

Nice that you include all the third party candidates in this poll, oh, whoops you didn't.

I guess par for the course from an Obama slurper.

    Bob Barr or no one.

  • Mark - 16 years ago

    @Paulrus nobody..

  • Zack M - 16 years ago

Obama! It seems the tech geeks lean toward Barack.

  • Davis - 16 years ago

If Obama wins America will fail prematurely.

  • Paulrus - 16 years ago

Before you vote ask yourself this one question:

What has (insert candidate name) actually accomplished that entitles him to become the most powerful man on earth?

Not what do you HOPE he'll accomplish. Not what do you WISH he'll accomplish. Not even what do you THINK he'll accomplish. What has he actually accomplished that entitles him to become the most powerful man on earth?

  • Shane Guiter - 16 years ago

Looks like Obama is going to score at least 300 electoral votes on Tuesday. Hang tight, Kevin. It's going to be fine.

  • FazzMunkle - 16 years ago

Obama of course. As to your tweet, I've been worried for Obama. I always thought they should keep him away from crowds. You see the hate groups starting to get restless these last few weeks. That's scary.

  • KingAtRock - 16 years ago

Redistributing the 700 billion dollar bailout or the damn near trillion dollar war.. I think the rich can take the small hit of higher taxes for 4 years instead of the middle class paying for wallstreet's and bush's mistakes.

  • LUke - 16 years ago

C'mon - do it for the international community as well. Vote Obama in. If you don't vote there are millions around the world that would like to take your place!

  • James M - 16 years ago

Just got done going door to door for Obama today. There are more volunteers for Obama from what I've seen, heard, and read but I've also seen first hand that McCain has more racist "fear" in his favor, if you know what I mean.

  • Conor - 16 years ago

Well, yeah, Tyler, he did make it. Will be interesting exactly how probama Kevin's followers are.

  • Bore - 16 years ago

Obama FTW -- Hope America pulls their collective heads out of their asses and makes the right choice.

  • Louis - 16 years ago

Its a shame we can't get some geographical data on this poll. It would be neat to see how far the KR effect spans across the US.

  • wooka - 16 years ago

    Neither FTW!

  • Brad Taylor - 16 years ago

Somehow I think Obama is going to win.... this poll... every poll... and the election :)

  • malren - 16 years ago

Obama FTRedistribution! Damn rich people! I deserve their money!

  • Richard N. - 16 years ago

    Nice poll. I voted.

Add me on twitter for more.

  • kiffar - 16 years ago

Obama is our generations Robert Kennedy.

  • Tyler Hayes - 16 years ago

This poll is about to experience the Kevin Rose effect.

  • Kirk Potter - 16 years ago

    Obama FTW.
