Here in france, the credit crunch has actually brought groups of people to work together to set up "groupement d'achat" which is an association which enables those signed up to buy in bulk and at cheaper prices than in most stores. Others are setting up "jardin de partage" where those who are willing to grow veggies can they organize amongst themselves who can grow what and share the fruits of their work. Then go to the organic stores to buy that which cannot be produced easily(rice, quinoa, seaweed, tofu, etc) I find that it has brought and pushed more people on the same wavelenght closer to one another, and that there is a genuine solidarity slowly developping out of all the financial stress that has been imposed upon us. Organics doesn't have to be expensive, if you modify your way of consumption and seek innovative ways to work with others. The economy can crash all it wants, we'll still have our planet to provide us with the necessary tools to survive and stay healthy..destroying our planet buy buying into products that are harmful to its well being simply to have more money in one's pocket, is a twisted way to think that we'll survive. The economy is just a big boy's game to which, we all partake in and allow ourselves to be affected by it simply because we choose to be affected by it.
