    Hey Now,
When Melo brought the Championship to da Cuse that to me makes #15 next. To me personally my favorite player still of all time is #31. Moten & his leading the BIG East is memorable, G-Money #3 did a lot too. Orr & Bouie are vets specially Orr when he coached too. Go Cuse!

As an original founding member of "THE ZOO", and watching SU basketball in the Manley Field house with it's dirt floor, I have to go with my heart and give it to the "Louie and Bouie Show" who came to the team while I was a student. I can still hear the theme music from the movie "Shaft" blaring loud, and watching that team come on to the floor with my friends and I yelling at the top of our lungs in support.... Wow, those were some fun days! To be honest, this poll is so hard as there have been so many who I personally think that their jerseys should be retired.

Even though I live in ACC country now, I still try to watch any S.U. game that comes on the satellite T.V. LET”S GO ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Jim Boeheim.

Melo brought us the National Championship, enough said.

John Wallace, He was the man. He had the least talented final four team and carried them on his back, went to at least 2 sweet sixteens and ranks high in school history in scoring and rebounds. He also was a Mcdonalds all american coming out of high school.

Tough choices, but I'd have to go with Lawrence Moten, who played his freshman season with the poise of a senior, became Syracuse's and the Big East's all-time scorer, and helped Syracuse remain a competitive program in the 'probation'.

I was very tempted to go with Bullet Bill Gabor, who was outstanding in WWII era. I would've liked to have had the option to consider Vinnie Cohen, Syracuse's best player of the 50s, and the first to average 20+ a game.

I also like the tandem of Louie and Bouie; you have it right... they do have to go in together. The duo brought Syracuse to sustained national prominence under a young Jimmy Boeheim.

And of course, the outstanding senior leadership of John Wallace in 1996 cannot be overlooked.

All that being said, I'd still go with Moten.

And I'm not disrespecting Anthony... but he's still a very young man, he's going to have a facility at Syracuse named after him, and I am more impressed with the 3-4 years efforts of the other outstanding candidates than I am with the one for Melo. The bigger debate someday will be between who goes first: Melo or McNamara... but that's for a later time and a later date.

I am amazed that loyal SU fans are failing to recognize the outstanding exploits of SUs first true all-star Ed Gabor. All to often we only know the acheivements of those players that we have seen play. This tendency overlooks an opportunity to recognize those players who were outstanding within the rules and styles of their basketball era and their contributions to the SU basketball tradition. Checkout Mikes book" Legends of Syracuse Basketball" for a great review of SUs' outstanding basketball players.
