Paraphrase: "If thou will not work, neither shall thou eat." That seems to me to be a blanket condemnation of socialism.

Isn't the whole of the Bible a picture that forced charity/love doesn't work. The Law never saved anyone, and it seems to my simple mind that socialism is an attempt to force people to love each other. It simply seems to have the opposite affect. As Paul said in Romans 7:8, "But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire." True charity/love can only come from a heart filled with the Holy Spirit. That cannot be legislated!
