Which do you think is the most important conservation issue of our time?

I think the most important thing is to conserve our right to live as a human race. To achieve this our planet must be safeguarded from our threats we pose to ourselves by unknowingly or even willingly damage our ecosystem and our souls by exposing ourselves to lies and corporate greed. If You want your children to honor You later when dead, Act now. Give a little bit and talk to people about it. Nature will thank You and so will the living of the earth.

I feel that the main source of environmental demise... is the human race. Population control should be considered, here's why..... The average age in the Global south is 15. THis means that the birth rate is higher than the death rate... the populations are growing. Many regions where there are an overabundance of people, have food and water deficits. In America, currently we are facing loss of clean water sources, in addition to natural habitats. The world is not capable of sustaining so many numbers of people. Additionally, people do not carry the same intellegence as primates. Animals tend to know their boundaries of how much to take, humans believe it's take and take...we become consumed with greed and end up destroying everything natural, by urbanization and other methods of convenience to earn money. Another human characteristic which is unavoidable, the desire to buy a beautiful peice of land in a natural habitat, then build an ugly house in the middle... by means to "surround yourselves with beauty"..... Newsflash, your only destroying a natural habitat.

I believe the most important thing is to conserve our forests.The rate at which trees are being cut down is alarming and very soon we will be having a desert of a world where there shall be no wildlife as there habitat will have been destroyed.

I feel that spirituality which major religions offers now should be integrated and explore in our strategies to protect environment. God manifest itself in NATURE/ENVIRONMENT. Man's assault to environment is a result of its increasing decline to practice and uphold its relations to God.

It's time to stop heating the Earth.

Our organization is working for children's rights, women's rights, peace and sustainable development in Pakistan. Climatic change is the area most needed for work for the environmental conservation and even survival of earth that is serving all of us! changes in climate can impact livlihood and cause food insecurity as cultivation pattrens will be changed. Temperature variations cause unpredictable weather changes, Droughts, floods, sea stroms, effects on food chain for all species...every thing is caused by climatic change....

I think that giving education to all humans and empowering those in need to choose for what they really would like to do with their lives will lead to reducing human population growth, which is the most serious problem that we face today. All other environmental problems are related to this. Human greed and material insecurity, along with fear of death and of illness make us believe that only through accumulation of material wealth we can find a relief in our life. This is clearly wrong and unsustainable. Education, adaptation of centuries-old religious beliefs to the real today's situation, reduction of consumerism by the wealthy, and empowerment of the poor would bring a great positive impact, and make all other conservation issues easier to deal with. Education in all sectors, including the widely neglected emotional level, is a major answer to our problems. We need a revolution in the educational system. We need to stop waiting for a new Messiah to come and help us out of chaos. We have to become fully aware of our responsibilities and act. Each one of us. No one else except for ourselves is responsible for the situation we are in today. And we, each one of us, are the ones that need to act today, in the third millennium. To lose a species in the wild every 20 minutes because of our greed and short sight it is a sign of weakness that we should address and transform in strength instead. We need to act, now. But, to reach this point, at least at the initial stage, we need help. We need good leaders with a genuine view for a better and more sustainable future. We need teachers with a holistic view. People ahead with their mind and acts, who can see beyond the limits imposed by backward traditions, religions and innate fears. Where are these people? Do we know them?

im only 13 but the rain forest is most important right. its our main supply of oxygen, without that were dead surelly? :L x

I think that each of this issues are equally important.And most of them are related.For example protecting tropical forests and saving threatened species. But the most important thing that people are start to react from themselves.That is the only way we can change the world.

i think an issue that needs to be stopped is the china fur trade. there isnt enough being done about it =( i think this is important because not only are tons of animals dying, but they are being tortured and skinned alive. its horrible, and needs to be stopped.

From my point of view, i am very sure human welfare should be put on the top priority. Forest dependent people should be given a vital active role on forest management what ever activities protecting, conserving or wood extracting.

The most important element in the whole creation is the human being. Through ages of human development it is proven that human minds can create for the better or worse of the world environment and nature. Human development in various Western counties now and historical proven facts have shown that with the development process of men, reaching a better standard of life, they also captured the needs for the improvement of their environment and nature. In the developing countries however, where the human development factor is still mostly on paper (theoretical) and the life's needs are staggering, it is mostly the option of survival of the human species a priority above the environment and nature.
