Damn right. Education is an investment in the future, it's not just current spending.

Enough is enough. Waste after waste, now it's finally caught up fianna fail and the first thing to go is education!!!???!!
We didn't pull ourselves out of economic hell in the '90's by not investing in education.
The opposition should pull out all the stops to remove this useless coalition.
Bring an election. we all know what would happen then.

This budget will have a serious affect on all our children.

Amongst all the cut contaned in the budget are:

-Class suize will increase.
-A school will only be allowed two English as additional Lauguage Teacher no matter how many non-english speaking pupils there are in the school.
-And from the 1 january there will be no cover for uncerified sick laeve. This will laed to disruption as the class will have to be divivid amonst other teachers and class.
-The free book grant will now be abolished.
-And the funding for special equipment and library books will not be given to schools.
-And The Plan for Students with Special Educational Need act 2004 is to be shelved.

Attacking old people and kids is a national shame.

The present government are so out of touch with what is really happening in this country that it is frightening. It's time now for The Labour Party to keep up the pressure not to let the ordinary working man and woman down. Straight talk and honesty will help Labour wipe the floor with the F.F. canditates in the next election. This country should be moving forward not backwards, and Labour will be the party to do it.

The education cuts are ridiculous. I agree that education spending could be streamlined but it should not be cut at the ground level in the schools. The investment in the inspectorate and the teaching council and many other 'jobs' and levels of bureaucracy should be cut. This government are punishing those who cannot defend themselves, who cannot fight back, those who are too young to vote. All teachers, politicians, parents and students should be fighting to prevent these cuts and further cuts in education.
