Clearly Both Candidates Won by being Involved in this Debate! But over all Ralph Nader most definitely is a far superior candidate, through experience and ideas. He is better in both social and fiscal issues, he is a staunch supporter of the constitution and he is an anti-corporate conglomerate warrior! He has a 40 year track record getting rights for the citizen to be more important than the rights of a corporation! Ralph Nader is truly an American hero.
Chuck Baldwin is a good guy, but he is too much for the religious stuff, he keep stalking about evangelicals etc., and There is no room in the presidents job for religion!

I couldn't agree more. This was less of a debate and more of a lesson in people waking up to what is important.

A breath of fresh air in this election! Love them both, but Chuck Baldwin gets my vote for his committment to eliminating the Federal Reserve and the income tax and monetary reform, which I feel is central to healing America.

I agree with Baldwin more (minus the religious overtones) but Ralph Nader would accomplish more because he's more informed, he's been fighting the good fight longer and has an exact plan that he's chomping at the bit to implement. Either would be good but I'd vote Nader, especially if he agree on Ron Paul being Treasury Secretary (holy shit!)

The real debate, as the real vote, will show whether the American people understand and will uphold the Constitution and the Constitutional form of government the Founders bled and died to bequeath us.

Constitutional government, a Republic of laws (and not a democracy of mobs), is what has given rise to civil liberties and personal prosperity that has been the envy of the world. If we give it up, the liberty and prosperity will decline as well.

Your choice.

I choose the candidate on the ballot that Ron Paul endorsed: Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party. More importantly, I voted for Constitution Party candidates for Congress and local and State offices. Let the r3VOLution continue!

It is a sad irony that any party must be named "Constitution" when all office-holders swore on a Bible to uphold it. There is a way to change it: Vote Constitution.

I agree with the comments above. The "poll" on the website said Baldwin won by a landslide. I believe that is because the audience was responding to the fact that he referred to Ron Paul and his platform/policies often. If one stood back and listened without an agenda, I feel Ralph Nader won this one. I was also impressed when I heard Ralph Nader interviewed the other day on NPR. Baldwin really lost me when he wants government to interfere with very personal choices where they don't belong. He really harped on Roe vs Wade and it makes me concerned about any other issues where he wants government. (I have that issue with Ron as well.)

The good news about having these two providing us with their thoughts is it made me realize once again how hungry I am for TRUTH instead of the manipulated drivel we hear on the regular media. Thanks SO much for organizing this!!! Let's have more.

Thanks to everyone who made this debate possible. I think both candidates brought up important issues.

Unfortunately technical difficulties kept me from hearing he debate in its entirety. That made it difficult determine who had the stronger debate. I tend to agree with Baldwin's issues but like to hear Nader's experience. I think the moderator needed should have limited his time on questions, however. I would have liked to hear more of the candidates and less of the moderator.

Thanks again... It is wonderful this is even happening.

I agree with Leena. Yeah Chuck mentioned evangelical quite a few times, but he clearly believes in freedom of religion and keeping religion and government decisions separate. I love the plan to get rid of the federal reserve and reversing many of the appalling executive orders Bush has created in his administration.

Ralph thinks the solutions come from the government and Chuck clearly showed that the present government is the problem. national health care is socialism period. The rights to abortion should constitutionally handed to the individual states. It was a refreshing discussion between both of these candidates.

The post-debate commentators suggest Chuck Baldwin strayed from point. The fact is, Baldwin continued bringing us back to principle, from which all points follow. The failure of the American people to understand this is why we are satisfied by short-term gain, while our rights and prosperity are being eroded.

Speaking of principle, please note that RON PAUL publicly endorses Chuck Baldwin:

"September 22, Congressman Ron Paul publicly gave me his
endorsement for the office of President of the United States. In his blog at
the Campaign for Liberty web site, he said, 'I'm supporting Chuck Baldwin,
the Constitution Party candidate.' (See the complete statement at:
http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog/?p=582 )"

--from http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2008/cbarchive_20080923_2.html

Let the r3VOLution continue: Vote Constitution!

"A wasted vote is a vote for the 'lesser of two evils.' Or, in the case of John McCain
and Barack Obama, what we have is a choice between the 'evil of two
lessers.'"

See "Wasted Vote" at: http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2008/cbarchive_20081010.html

I would have to support Chuck Baldwin because of his stand on protecting the 2nd amendment and securing the borders. I heard someone comment on seperation of church & state. I'll agree with that. Show me in the Constitution where the Government is supposed to run schools. Lets get the government out of the school system and maybe our education system will go back to No1 like it was before the Federal Board of Education got involved in 1953. It's time we kicked the UN to the curb and checked the good behavior of some judges.

I enjoyed the debate. I think both candidates did very well and I agreed with Nader on a lot of the issues but his solution was more often than not more government and regulation which has proven to not work. Also, he leans toward socialism. I like Chuck Baldwin and his limited government and less regulation and constitutional government. I am a U.S. Veteran and my vote goes to Chuck Baldwin!

2008-10-23 21:57:53 ET

This was an excellent debate, truly a breath of fresh air we can all appreciate. Both candidates spoke well, but Nader has had my vote since he first showed a willingness to speak the truth without hesitation. He cares about the American people and our rights without the cheap inclusion of faith, that can't be said about McBama. The more we vote for 3rd party candidates, the sooner Washington is going to wake up. We have to take action and stop SETTLING.

Good to spend the debate with everyone!

I have been a volunteer with the Nader/Gonzalez '08 pretty much since he announced in February. I do have a deep respect for both Chuck Baldwin and the Constitution Party. I have been receiving RTR's action alerts and listen to RTR radio frequently. Surprisingly both camps are a lot closer in ideology than one may think. All in all it is "We the People" that count.

I will continue to support Ralph because I do believe that a single payer health care system is the best option for all Americans. I also believe that abortion is a very personal issue that government has no business sticking it's nose into. Our government is out of control and both of these candidates are quite a bit more qualified than either of the two corporate controlled party candidates.

I am happy that C-Span2 did decide to carry this debate live and I thank RTR for providing a live steam for those without cable or satellite. I believe that while there are some differences it is possible for all third party candidates and supporters to tear down the political duopoly that does tend to squash the voices of "We the People" in favor of "The New World Order" of coprporate domination.

I voted already for Chuck Baldwin...Nader is too socialist...more so in the past when he was was on Chuck Harder's show out of Florida, then now...and less socialist then John McObama of the 2 MainStream Party System!

I was very impressed with the debate. There was more substance here than anything I've heard from McBama. I went into the debate in Nader's corner, but Baldwin gave me enough to take a second look at him..

I've always been a fan of 3rd party candidates, and I've been watching the 2008 election campaign especially closely. Even though these candidates don't get enough "mainstream" attention, smaller outlets (such as those on the internet) have really given these people some extra exposure - and the reach of these outlets is much better than 4 short years ago.

The debate was a wonderful event, and it was so refreshing to hear HONEST candidates give their opinions about the issues (Obama/McCain are probably terrified to even mention abortion)

My vote goes to Nader (but I'm biased). I *truly* respect Chuck, and this is coming from a "liberal-lefty".

I do have one beef - the moderator should have shortened the preamble before his questions - and that preamble should have been less partisan and strident.

I think that Nader and Baldwin could have had serious disagreement on many issues yet they were able to debate without any jibes or animosity. How superior is the dialogue between independent thinkers over those who follow group think! Both Nader and Baldwin were good and I wish both were in power to make changes in our nation. People will choose which candidate they support according to their world view. I am a bible believing Christian and support Baldwin yet I have so much more in common with Nader than with Bush and the Republican Party.

It's hard to pick a winner in this debate but I have to say Ralph Nader. I say this mostly because Chuck Baldwin fumbled the health care question and ended up changing the subject back to Wall Street. Besides that one question though I think both candidates did an excellent job in expressing their positions on the issues.

P.S. The thing I disliked most about the debate was the moderator. Not because I dislike Chris Hedges because he is a very respectable journalist, but because he has previously endorsed Ralph Nader for president and his bias showed somewhat in the questions he was asking.

2008-10-24 05:12:47 ET

I agree with everything said so far but I must add that if you do researches as I have for over 3 years and examine the Facts, I know now what has happened. Almost 100 years ago a few british-zionist jews came here and blackmailed woodrow wilson into getting Americans killed for their war in europe (WWI) which led into their winning the lost war against Germany and led into Balfour declaration and shameful treaty of Versailles , the Ottoman moslems were defeated along with germans and the european jews got to take over palestine and America since they found it so easy to brainwash ppl with heir media.
Hitler called their bluff and instantly became an evil person??!!
please find "911 Stranger Than Fiction" video or transcript and watch David Cole's "Auschwitz" to see the amount of brainwashing going on still today which has led into this police state and destruction of our constitution. Many of the working ordinary Jews are innocent (although I think they have always Known about this) but then those who are in high places, famous (or behind curtains) and play major roles in media politics movies entertainment banking and other governmental or private industries are guilty as hell!
get rid of these british zionist israelis and we will have freedom.

Your research is flawed and jaundiced. Israel is a tiny country with no oil or resources and the Jews have always been persecuted. The Saudis on the other hand have over a trillion dollars in U.S. banks and another trillion invested in our stock market. They are the ones buying off politicians and business leaders and also building mosques and Islamic centers. Beware of those who hate the Jews. Yes Hitler was evil. Stalin was evil. Woodrow Wilson and FDR were puppets of the Bankers who are more connected to the Freemasons and the Vatican than with the Jews.

I think Nader won. I think they both win though for actually participating. America wins for having had this debate. The American people deserve a real vice president debate as well.

I like that Baldwin admitted that it would be immoral to deny care to people who need it to live, to some degree, whether the solution be strictly free market or not. He did not get into details, and said he'd need time to study it, but Nader's solution seems well more thought out and ahead of the curve. Let's quit the Democratic and Republican brainwash propaganda using terms like socialist for Nader. He is way more capitalist than Obama or McCain, which I know, does not say much, but still... Every society needs some socialized institutions or you get anarchy. Also, Nader's approach of correct regulation, which it seems Baldwin is also for, is a far cry from the gross mismanagement and misdirection perpetuated by the corrupt, paid off, democrats and republicans. It sounds like Baldwin hasn't thought out problems that an unregulated free market cause, but is starting to understand, and would be willing to come up with a compromise for society. I think Nader is a good man, and would do the same, but is much more evolved and realistic in his approach. After the last decade, you will not be able to unite liberals and conservatives with a deregulation "every man for himself" approach. You just won't. A majority of people want controlled access to health care. Why not, instead of fight helping anybody else, you help steer them to do it wisely, so you save money too?

Still, a vote for McCain or Obama is a wasted vote, because they've already strongly and repeatedly betrayed the principals they claim to stand by, like the parties they represent, so if you truly feel that government should do nothing but protect your property, and guard the borders, shooting anything that speaks spanish :), Baldwin's probably your man. If you think protecting the rights of the masses of workers who are the engine of our country is important, and that compassion should have more say than any religion, Nader's your man.

I asked Free and Equal if there will be a VP debate, and they want to, but said that this one cost about $10,000 and they need donations and could use more technical help to make it happen.
It sounds like it would also help if the candidates or their representatives asked what they could do to help, or gave input ASAP. Time is running out to let America know we have options, and much better ones than Obama or McCain.
