I'm an expert. My experience comes with an investment of time, effort and skill. I'm sharing knowledge that will enlighten and inform, perhaps leading to an increase in awareness, profits or publicity [or all three] for my subject area and for whoever has hired me .

I do a lot of research and put considerable thought into to what I write. I do not have time to dink around with clients who will pay .01 cent a word for an article or, worse on commision from ad revenue. I don't want promises but cold, hard cash.
It really depends on the area of expertise and the depth of the article.
For one-time contract jobs, I get 50% advance on a minimum of $300.
I based my reply on what I generally get for my work. I am an expert in my area and have an advanced degree which is backed up by more than 20 years of experience in the field. I do not accept assignments that would pay less. I think $100 dollars for a 500 word article is a bargin.
